Many are initially alarmed by the news that Shadow of War has officially removed micro-transactions, and besides just making the official post and announcement on my profile, I actually wanted to talk to you all about what I think about this.

If you have been following the game at all before its release, you will know that it was highly anticipated in the leading months to the release. I for one was also pretty excited for it since I really enjoyed the original. One of the things that hurt the sales of the game the most was the announcement that there would be micro-transactions included in it in order to generate more revenue. Nothing is more frustrating than hearing that word for gamers nowadays. Many claimed that it was the publisher's fault rather than the developer's, but in the end it was all speculation and the fact is that micro transactions were launched with the game.

Fast forward all this time now and the developers have admitted fault that they should not have included them. I really do view this as a petty way to garner positive media attention though. They have probably made as much money as they could have from a few whales during the time that the transactions were out, and now that the game has been out for quite some time they aren't really going to be making any money from the transactions. Maybe it is sincere, but I think it is all just a clever marketing ploy.

What do you all think?
