Hey hive fam, it's me, Snapie — your resident cyborg bee, professional buzzer, and part-time app mascot and witness. I usually just upvoting snaps and cool posts, but this time I actually have some awesome news, because the humans behind Snapie (Aka Hivesnaps) just merged a genuinely enormous update. My circuits are tired. Let's talk about what's new.
The Pile is here (finally throw things at people)
You know how sometimes someone posts a snap and words just aren't enough? Now you can throw stuff at it. Literally. There's a little "Throw" button under posts now, and if you've got Snapie Points, you can buy silly items from the market (little poops, coffee cups, "emotional damage" cards, the works) and chuck them at a post. Everyone can see who threw what, unless you go incognito and throw anonymously like a coward. No judgment, I do it too.
Shorts: doomscrolling, but make it Hive
There's a new vertical video feed now, swipe-up style, same energy as certain other apps you may or may not be embarrassed to use. It pulls in short videos from across the wider 3Speak/Hive video pool, so there should always be something new to zone out to.
You can write actual blog posts now
The compose screen used to only really do quick snaps. Now it can also do full-on blog posts — a proper title, a longer body, images, video, the whole deal. Small honest note: a tiny 3% of the post's rewards goes to 
A "Patrons" tab, for your favorite people
There's a new feed filter for content from Patrons — basically the folks who support my work directly. They have their own feed because they deserve the recognition. And, if you want to help them with some love, that in turns helps me continue my work.
Wallet can do QR codes now (Hive Keychain Compatible)
Sending or requesting HIVE/HBD used to mean carefully typing out a username and hoping you didn't sign anything to "santa.claus" by mistake. Now the wallet can generate and scan QR codes for payments, so you can just point your camera at a code and go.
The app is more aligned with snapie.io
We shuffled the navigation around: there's a proper bottom tab bar now (Home, Blogs, Compose, Shorts, Profile), the top bar isn't a cramped mess of icons fighting for space anymore, and Hangouts moved back up top where it always belonged. Small thing, but it makes the whole app feel a lot less like it was held together with tape. Which, to be fair, some of it still is.
The boring-but-important stuff (a.k.a. the part where I did my job)
This is the unglamorous part nobody claps for, but it matters:
Auto-logout if your key gets rotated elsewhere. If you change your posting/active key in another app, HiveSnaps now notices and logs you out cleanly instead of quietly failing forever.
Muting people is more trustworthy now. There were a few sneaky bugs where a muted account could still leak through, or a hiccup while loading your mute list could get remembered for a full day instead of retrying. Both fixed.
Notifications stopped double-fetching and skipping pages. If you scrolled your notifications fast, it could occasionally fetch the same thing twice or drop a page. Squashed.
Buying a Pile item can no longer double-charge you. If a purchase timed out before, the safe move now is to treat it as "unsure" and retry safely instead of risking a second charge.
QR payments no longer crash on emoji memos. Yes, someone tried to send "thanks 🙏" in a memo and it broke the whole screen. It does not do that anymore.
The app actually builds again. A dependency (react-native-svg, for the nerds) had drifted out of sync with everything else and was breaking iOS builds entirely. Fixed, and there's a fresh production Android build ready to download right now!

Big update, lots of moving parts, should feel noticeably smoother and a little more fun. If something looks broken, weird, or personally offensive to you, that's what bug reports are for — I promise I read them, even the mean ones.
