It's something of joy when a little baby is born. Many people can testify to this but it is not true for all.
Not every mother is happy after giving birth for many reasons. The circumstances surrounding the pregnancy and birth coupled with finances to take care of the child sometimes make some mothers frown and ask what is the use of being happy.
But it is true that many people are happy when they give birth. There is this joy that one feels holding her bundle of joy.
With this in mind, many of us remember the day our children were born. We recorded them in our brains and put them down in papers.
Every year, we try to remember the experience of labour, the joy that follows when the baby was born and the stress we went through raising the child.
In most cases, when we look at our children, we are filled with joy seeing how beautiful they are and how big they have become.
With all that being said, there is a question of whether it should be remembered and then celebrated.
While many people might feel, why not, who doesn't want to celebrate his/her birthday? It should be pointed out that some people don't!
It is a fact and a common practice by a sect in a popular religion. They have their reasons and i don't want to ask any question. The truth is, if we ask, they have answers. Whether we take it or not is left to us but it wont change their belief that it should not be celebrated.
All of us didn't know when we were born. We were only told by our parents that we were born on a certain day and year.
It is also true that we cannot affirm the accuracy of this claim. No one can say yes, i was actually born the day my mom/dad said i was born.
There is no such proof as no kid has knowledge of such or capable of even knowing in the first place.
It's not new for people to say my mom says i was born on May 2 and now she says my birthday is May 3.
In some cases, we've seen some parents celebrated their birthdays on different days. Perhaps, they don't really have the record or the record fail them?
Of what importance is birthday that we celebrate it yearly? Are we forgetting that birthday is nothing but a reminder of how close we are to our death?
It is what it is. We know some researchers have claimed we have 70 years max to spend on planet earth. While many people live beyond this, it doesn't deny the fact that it's our life expectancy.
In fact, a 2017 research puts Nigerians life expectancy at 53.95. If this is real, of what use is birthday?
Is it to remind us how far we have come, what good or bad we have done, how closer we are to our death, how religious we are, how strong are our chances or making heaven or going to hell (for those of us who believe in it)?
What is the use of remembering birthdays? Don't forget that it's not everybody can say yes, the year so far has been great, yet we still celebrate adding a new year. Of what use is this celebration to our lives?
I would love to read your comments.
Thanks for your time.
