Life is looks wired in a way that suggest it's being handled mysteriously. Things happen that we are left in awe and wonder how they happened or even why.
No man will sanely wished himself bad luck. I am yet to see a sane man who will pray or ask that a building collapse on him.
Perhaps, when people are in pain or loss a soul, they wish for so many bad things thinking if this happens, it will free them from the sadness, pain or sorrow they are facing.
But we know that such wish is not a sane one. It is from pain, agony and is being asked by someone who is not mentally stable at that moment.
With that established as a fact, we can't deny the fact that people experience bad luck or unfortunate situations even when they don't' wish or pray for them.
We wake up in the morning full of hope and enthusiasm about what the day holds. We go out in optimism that the day will be better for us.
For kids, they hope they will eat enough goodies, for students, they hope they wont be beaten by their teachers and won't be called to answer questions they don't know. For adult traders, they pray for many customers and sales in the market. For office workers, they pray the day is smooth with no mistake or query.
So we wake up in the morning with prayers that the day should be smooth and a good one for us and our family.
Often time, this wishes never become realities. Many things happen in a man's life that he wonders where they came from.
A man could look healthy and even running up and down and within minutes, you will hear he slumps and died.
It is possible for such man to sleep and never wake up. It is also possible for such man to feel headache, go to hospital and be told he has cancer or any incurable disease.
So within seconds, a life could be shattered and destroyed along with dreams and hopes.
Did you even know that many of us prayed for good things but somehow, bad things happen. Or how else can you explain a car accident to a clergyman?
Or can we argue that all those who had car accidents, container accidents, gas accidents, building collapse accidents and the rest didn't pray? Or can we really argue that they are not believers?
I guess we can't outrightly argue that. This shows something must still be speaking for us with apparent good health.
This is what some people call Grace. But we can also argue that if it is grace now, when unfortunate happens (eventually since we don't know what tomorrow holds and never prayed they happen), does it mean Grace has stopped? Can man expect the Grace to stop or it is beyond Grace and we are just lucky?
How long can we be lucky to be fortunate and then the other one strikes like a thunder?
Bottom line, no human is anti unfortunate. We are all prone. We could be struck by anything, we could be hit by what we never expected or dreamt of.
When we have this health and everything seems to be okay, keep thanking God for it.
Those who are ill or facing one disease or the other are not less human. It's not because you are more faithful to the Supreme Being. It just shows we are all prone and should be grateful for what we have now and be thankful as well.
Should we expect the unfortunate? I will say no. Should we not expect it, i will still say no. We are opened to any possibility as human beings!
