Agreed on the 5.56, it's a poor combat round! The .308 is close to a 30-06, and will enter an engine block, so it's okay. I'm not sure if the 6.8mm they are looking at moving to for the 5.56 replacement will fill that function. Most rounds in the AR platform don't have enough powder to damage an engine block.

The .458 and 6.8mm are both doing a good job by correcting the poor bullet weight on the 5.56! It is a good effort....

But anything that shoots, is better than a slingshot!!!! I've just made a rule to avoid ammo confusion, because some of my local help might screw things up. I don't have a .40, be because it might end up in a .45 system by mistake. I'm just a cautious type, LOL!
