The journey to Togo was very tiring but interesting all the same because the two friends got to see some interesting things, tried out new foods and made friends in the bus. The journey lasted for about 12 hours because there were little challenges on the road; like traffic, crossing the boarders and passing through bad roads.
They got to Lome in Togo around 9pm and started making calls to Mike (a representative of the organization "ASEC"in Togo) so he could come and pick them from the park to where they will spend the night. It took Mike about 20minutes to get to the park. He welcomed them warmly and helped them with their bags. They got a cab going to the house they were to spend the night.
The house was a decent bungalow adorned with flowers. Rita and Susan were directed to the sitting room where they got to meet other "ASEC" members who welcomed them warmly as well. They were all speaking French and the two friends were glad they were because that was one of the reason they came there (to improve their oral French), gain experience through the internship and have fun as well.
They were offered soft drink and directed to their room after the drink to freshen up before dinner was ready. The room was a self contained room and they were glad it was. Dinner was served in 30 minutes time; couscous. Susan doesn't really like couscous but she had to eat it so the host wouldn't feel bad. After dinner and a little discussion about how the journey went, everyone went to sleep.
Rita woke up the next morning from the sound of a knock on the door.
Rita: c'est qui, s'il vous plait? - who is it please?
Mike: c'est Mike - it's Mike.
Rita: oh, J'arrive s'il vous plait - I'm coming please
Mike: pas de problem - no problem
She got up from the bed, wore a small dress and opened the door. While opening the door, Susan woke up also from the squeaking sound of the door and asked where Rita was going. She told her Mike was knocking and she didn't know why so she wanted to go and see him to hear what he wanted to say. She left the room and met Mike in the parlour. She sat on a couch just infront of him and waited for him to talk after saying good morning.
Mike: so how did your night go?
Rita: it was fine thank you, and yours?
Mike: it was fine also. What would you like for breakfast this morning? Rice or baguette.
Rita: Rice please but I think Susan would love baguette.
Mike: OK, good. So, the reason why I knocked on your door this morning was because I wanted to talk to the both of you about your permanent accommodation.
Rita: OK, then I think I should go and call Susan so she won't miss out on any information concerning this.
Rita hurried to the room to call Susan but she didn't meet her there. She knocked the bathroom door but there was no response, so she opened and checked, but Susan wasn't there.
