I haven't done things as they were supposed to be done. I mean, writing a first blog post by introducing myself, and I rather decided to submit two blog posts before the idea slipped out of my head. I guess I was born to not follow the rules...

My name is Gabriel Volpe but I go by the username @smartbackpacker referencing the app I introduced in my other blog post. I'm in my 30's, enjoying life, traveling a lot (+60 countries so far) and working as a Software Engineer.

Other things I love include craft beers (specially IPA's), Snowboarding, Progressive Rock / Metal and Playing music instruments such as Guitar and Piano.

I love the idea behind Steemit and I'm already preparing a blog series about my travels. One is going to be called "Traveling the Balkans" and the other one "Traveling South East Asia". I spent the last year and a half traveling around Asia and Eastern Europe so it's time to share something with the world.
