If I talk about my dating experiences so far, you will see that my level of stupidity is beyond bounds. Especially this first one I would be writing on. But because I know this post is a digital footprint, so I wouldn't like to spoil my 'brand'😂. But I will give a little insight into it.
You could say whatever I was feeling then wasn't love. But I think it was love for what I knew love to be.
A little backstory
Just recently, I learned I don't own people, but all my life, if I like someone, male or female, you are my person and mine only. The thought of you talking and laughing with others burns my heart.
In class 4, on a random day, our teacher decided to change our sitting arrangements and took away the boy I was sitting with and replaced him with another. Those were a few tough days. But with time, we got talking and couldn't stop talking. We were sitting in front of the class, so everyone could always see how carried away we were with each other and they started making jokes about us. These jokes got into my head. I had found my person and no one else mattered😂.
That was a really nice time, and we spent most of the time together since we were seat partners. I didn't even want to go on breaks.
We moved to class 5, and we were no longer sitting together. We were sitting at opposite ends of the class. I was with a different boy, and he was with one of my female friends.
I wasn't comfortable because my person was miles away from me, and what made it worse, he was giving my friend the same attention he gave me. He didn't even make any efforts to talk to me. It was like I was dead.
His cousin was my best friend then, and one day after closing, I wrote 'I love you' on a piece of paper and gave it to my friend to be given to him. The next day in class, nothing changed. It was like he never got the note.
We moved to class 6, and I didn't give up on getting my love back. I tried to get a seat as close to him as possible. This time, we had single desks. I didn't get a seat next to his, so I begged the guy sitting behind him to swap seats, and he did. The best day of my life. I had one of my friends right behind me too.
Everything was back to normal. We would spend a lot of time talking, he found a shortcut to his house from mine, so we would go home together. On weekends, he would come by my place, or I would go to his. My mom was friends with his parents, so I thought it was cool.
He taught me how to play FIFA, got me a game console, which made him win the hearts of my brothers.
In school though, things weren't looking so good. He was starting to spend a lot of time talking with my friend. He asked me to switch seats with him so that he could talk to my friend.
Fast forward: things were kinda serious between them and everyone was talking about it and it was devastating for me, cause the things I had done for this boy, its better left unsaid.
We moved to JHS 1, we weren't so close then, but we would still go home together sometimes with my kid sister.
One day I overheard him making a comment that they should have added my name to the list of talkatives since I was obviously talking. I lost it that day. He noticed the change in character, and I just couldn't stand him.
I didn't want to see his face or go home with him. I didn't even want to breathe the same air as him. He started begging and all that, but I was done. Just thinking about this now, it's just so funny😂😂😂.
Eventually, I was sitting close to another boy in class again, and he became my new favorite person. Now that's a story for another day, but that kept my thoughts away from this old guy, and eventually, my anger died down.
We are not enemies now, turns out he is dating another friend I used to walk home with. I remember how that girl used to admire what I had with that boy. Anyway, we talk once in a blue moon. And he posts the best memes on WhatsApp and Snapchat. I see him and I don't even remember he meant anything to me at some point in my life.
