My dad's language is pretty colourful but not as colourful as my drawings! I have been drawing for a little while now at the grandparent's place and with some pencils at home but, dad got me some crayons and they are heaps easier to use.
I am working on my repertoire and have been practicing a lot. So far, I can draw circles, circles and circles and..... lines! Lines and circles all over the place, it is brilliant.
Remembering to hold the crayon correctly is a bit of a challenge but I think I am doing pretty well. In the evenings now, this is what I plan on doing until I get the hang of it and can move on to water colours and perhaps oil paint. I figure that it shouldn't take me more than a few months to get good at this 'art stuff'. Let's see.
I haven't met him but my Granddad is an artist. Pretty good from what I hear. Perhaps it runs in the blood and I will have the eyes and hands to create. I do like it so far and I think daddy really enjoys sitting next to me and joining in also.
Today, I asked him to draw Monkey and he did! It wasn't very good but I laughed in glee and shouted 'Monkey!' to encourage him. Perhaps the artistic talent skips a generation but at least he tries hard. It is important I find to give things a good try before giving up. If I had given up early, I would never be as great at circles and lines as I am now. That would be a shame.
Here you can see daddy's 'Portrait of Monkey' work. After he finished, I added some circles to give it the pop it was missing. With practice, I think he will get there though so don't be too harsh on his attempt.
Okay, off to bed as I have lots of dreams to dream before morning.
