Today was the last full day with Uncle @galenkp and Aunty. I don't know what tomorrow will bring. I will go to my nap with them here but when I wake up and aske where they are, Mummy can't say "in the lounge room", she will say, "gone". I am unsure what happens then.
It has been a great week and one of the best parts has been that Mummy and Daddy have been able to relax a little and not had to worry about the reality of the world for a few days. Maybe they will be a little more calm but, I don't think it will last long, our storm seems to never be far away. The weather has been dry and sweltering but, rain is forecast for tomorrow... just in time.
It is interesting to be a part of our family this week as up until now, there hasn't been a lot of family moments. Mostly it is just the three of us and even though Mummy's family are close by, it is different somehow when there are people here on holiday who we see every day for a week. Perhaps it is because we take for granted what is close to us and it isn't until the time is limited that we start to really value it.
We were on the beach today and even though they haven't talked about leaving, I seem to know that they will be gone. I love the water and have loved playing with them splashing and throwing pebbles but, today was different. For some reason, I was not my usual waterbaby self, I was a little whiny, a little fussy.
Tomorrow I am going to try and be on my best see you in a few years behaviour so that they will remember me smiling and not teary and bleary eyed. The problem is, I know.
I know it is going to be a long time before I see them and when I do, I am going to have changed so much. Will they still recognise me? Will they still feel that connection we have built over the last week? It is hard to say but I hope that no matter how much time passes o what happens in between, they won't forget their little niece and all of the hugs and kisses we have shared.
Life is tough sometimes.
