@bozz mentioned this recently in a post. Steem Hunt is ancient now, at least 2 years old and I have participated once or twice (around 2 years ago), one of my finds being a motorised arse-washer which surprised the moderator but got approved!
…’this is really weird but I guess counts’…
Those guys have no sense of humour, if you can’t laugh then at least smile a little.
Connecting to steemhunt.com I was affronted with this bullshit. I knew they were talking about blocking some accounts but it's all getting a little stupid in my opinion.
After disagreeing with this ludicrous proposal (and seeing that the disagrees outweigh the agrees), I looked to see my token amount.
5788 tokens, a fortune by the looks of it, I WAS RICH!!!!.... and then a memory came to me in a fleeting moment. It was something from.. what was it… Phonejacker!
Would my veritable fortune of 5788 be more than £17.52. At least I didn’t have to give anyone my bank account and sort code.
Now here are some tips for you if you want to get rid of these ‘valuable’ tokens that have been sitting around for over 2 years. If you use Brave then take down the shields or you will get finger ache clicking on the connect button, that won't work.
Hopefully won't at some point have linked up your MetaMask account with your SteemHunt account or more pain awaits. I had and of course had forgotten the password.
After being asked for my 24-word (how many words), checksum, I added just 12 as that is all Metamask uses and needs.
I was amazed that it let me in, stupid fucking popup giving me duff info!
Once in, you can transfer all those lovely Ugandan dollars er.. I mean tokens to your ERC-20 wallet, and then send them to an exchange that supports HUNT tokens.
CoinGecko says Probit has the best volume, so I created a quick account and sent them. This would all have been easy but the wallet wants some GAS to send them over.
…’why can't I pay the bloody mining fees in HUNT?. I left the chops.support tokens in there as it wouldn't be worth sending them’…
I have some ETH in my Ledger but the withdrawal fees are quite prohibitive so @bozz sent me a little ETH (what a guy!), and I paid the 7c to send the tokens over.
Another 2c fee and @bozz had the ETH back in his wallet!
Probit is an easy exchange to use and I’m currently holding on with my buy order (more like stubbornly) for my 167 HIVE. That’s a tad less than £17.52.
As with everything crypto, it either goes smoothly or it’s a pain in the arse. Just be careful with the MetaMask wallet and make sure you have some GAS.
I know @bozz managed to send his to his existing ETH wallet.
Either way, it’s worth it to get some free HIVE, LTC or whatever you want, why would you want to keep HUNT tokens? Some people are buying them but I can't imagine what use they serve.
I have sent @bozz 5 HIVE as he offered me a 10-minute loan of which I used 9c.
It saved me the pain of getting out my Ledger, running up the Ethernet app, and probably paying too much for the GAS fees. Thanks man!
