I think other than mining crypto for profit another hugely underrated aspect of mining is being able to essentially buy crypto from your utility company. Even if you were mining for a loss, you are avoiding using exchanges. Not to mention all the various fees that come with fiat purchases, the exchange fees, tx fees,etc
