Greetings to this fresh and awesome community dedicated to Linux and Open source programs. Indeed I'm a total newbie to this community but not a newbie to computers and tech at all.
Although is fair to safe that Linux might not necessarily be the most widely used operating system, I believe it's the operating system with the best security advantage.
First and foremost it's open source and we all know how that concept is really unique for it's approach to security. Now people from basically every part of the world can contribute to the overall development and upgrade of the operating system. That opens up for more minds to contribute to the platform.
Now simply because they allow this technique of progressing the platform, more users can come together to effectively identify vulnerabilities in the operating system or platform. That's something Microsoft and MACOS ain't never going to have. That's gotta be one great advantage right.
Now besides the collective or collaborative way users are able to contribute, there's also full transparency within the platform. The source code for the Linux project is basically there for you to go check it out. Unless maybe if you don't understand programming then you'll be absolutely left out. But hey, that's ok because you don't understand it anyways so it shouldn't bother you right. 馃榿
Now another great security advantage of Linux I think would certainly be how fast we can respond to certain security threats. There's just way to many developers contributing all over the world and it would be quite unusual not to find a quick solution to anything that may be considered as a security threat to the Linux project. I'm pretty sure some readers of this blog may have a different opinion regarding this point so let me just state that I stand to be corrected on that but it seems logical right.
Now also since there's just different people from different parts of the world with different backgrounds all working on the same project, there would also be a deep or let me say broad diversity of skills involved. This will greatly increase the chances of building better and more powerful Linux Programs that will make Linux generally. great.
I'm pretty sure that even though these points may be few, they have a significant impact on the security advantage Linux has against other operating systems like Windows and MACOS. Now this community is dedicated to Linux so I'm talking about Linux alone. However the other operating systems are also quite great at what they do too.
