¡Greetings to all my fellow Steemians! Today in Quick Posts we are talking about the main formats used for video games distribution: cartridges and discs.
Each format has its own features, advantages and disadvantages. For instance, among the cartridge format advantages we can find:
• More physical resistance
• Loading times are almost inexistent
• Most of the times information can be saved on them
And the disadvantages are:
• Higher production costs
• Risks of internal damage due to sulfated circuits
• Is not possible to make legal copies of its contents
On the other hand, disc-based games have the following features:
• Lower production costs
• Possibility of making legal copies
• Possibility of using the same game disc on different consoles
And disadvantages such as:
• Poor resistance to physical wear (scratches, bending, cracks)
• Loading times WAY longer than the cartridge’s times
• Inability of saving info on them
