The leaves are probably at peak color. Sadly they didn't all turn at the same time this year.
Contrasting all the color is this old dead looking tree stump that the hawks like to perch on.
The color looks nice on a cloudless day with the sun.
Barely caught this plane passing overhead while shooting leaves.
The red maples are amazing, too bad they always fall first before the rest of the maples turn.
Others are out scoping out the leaves posing for selfies. I think this might be a maple and an oak next to eachother.
Meanwhile in other areas of the forest preserver there are Halloween decorations setup. My daughter was really interested in these things but I doubt she registered them al scary witch silhouettes.
Now some pumpkins and crows on some hay bales. Nice and natural.
As usual the punny gravestones. I have no idea why these gates are here, but they've always been here. Maybe there used to be a house back there but when it got turned into a forest preserve only the gates remained.
Now back to the leaves. This time I tested out some panoramas.
Nice yellow maples in an area where the chanterelles grow. Sadly its been to dry for any mushrooms to be growing now.
Last one, I'm hoping some oyster mushrooms grow on the fallen over tree in the background in spring.
