Strange leaflet insects are invading the paper media of the humans.
They have cloaking abilities to crawl onto any printed paper surface and meld into the layout.
They use tiny sensors on their belly to read the dot patterns to mimic what is underneath them.
Some are even evolving editorial capabilities.
As the human is reading their newspaper or book the leaflet insect blends in so well that they could read something completely different.
Most of their editorial changes have to spin a favorable light onto how nice bugs and insects are and not to kill them.
Soon after many generations humans begin to only read what the leaflet insects are telling them.
Eventually the insects achieve tier one status on the planet thanks to their camouflage propaganda.
Now they command humans around telling them to plant more trees and foliage that they can feed on. Anything that gets in the way of this tree planting is frowned upon and the leaflet insects send hoards of angry humans at the dissenters to throw them in volcanoes.
