Here is a strange psychedelic flower based off a ballpoint pen drawing I randomly doodled.

The initial sketch was just something I came up with at work while waiting for the computer to finish processing a huge image. Whenever there is downtime I add a bit more to the drawing and over the course of a week or so they can sometimes turn into something cool.

To take is a bit further I'll combine the sketch with a few digital renderings I made in jwildfire and mandelbulb. This first one is from mandelbulb. It kind of reminds me of some barnacle covered whale lol.

I created the next render in jwildfire by layering a few different fractal flames over one another then aiming the camera in perspective at their side view. It kind of has a horizon vibe to it for a landscape.

The next image was also created in jwildfire. This one looks quite a bit like a wire mesh bent into a cube. The bright colors remind me a bit of some sparks of light.

Now here is the combined sketch and renders. The colors from the renderings blended nicely into the black and white pen drawing. I used various blending methods to get the white and black to bleed into the color of the renders. This part of the composition looks sort of like a spaceship flying through some nebula at warp speeds.

For this next composition I isolated the colored doodle and replicated it into a flower pattern. I adjusted the colors to make a sort of chemical burned metal look. Now that I rotated the petals I realized there is a funny looking face right in the middle of each petal.

One last step is to do a color animation. I did a few color variations and blended them together to create a sort of neon glowing flower. Perhaps you would find this thing glowing in the night after landing on an alien planet. Beware the thorns on this plant they will definitely poison you with plenty of psychedelic side effects.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
