Here are a few finds from this week for #mushroommonday
I picked up this little guy thinking it was a puffball from the top. Then I realized it was a pinning mushroom.
The fat stem and purple gills seem to point towards a Laccaria ochropurpurea. These are a good edible but you can only eat the caps as the stems are tough.
I thought these guys were false turkeytail at first.
I peeled one off and flipped it over. The flesh was way too soft to be a false turkeytail. They also have crinkly shallow gills instead of pores. I think they might be a type of Crepidotus...
I'm not sure what this reddish orange mess is. It seems to be permeating the entirety of this burnt log.
I suspect it is a type of crust fungi. Typically I usually only see this in orange or white colors, perhaps this is just a more red version or it will change to orange later on.
Here are some strange pillowy white large mushrooms.
The gills are quite dense and there is no stem ring.
Here's a smaller one from the same batch... I have no idea what these are but they seemed to be everywhere after the rain. I usually stay away from foraging white mushrooms like this because they look too much like deadly mushrooms, though I doubt these are poisonous amanitas.
Now for a chipmunk stashing a reddening acorn in a cache. I thought it might have been some kind of red mushroom from a distance. Tricked by the chipmunks again...
