Normally this would a day for another #squirrelsunday but today is Easter so we are dying eggs in a natural way.
They turned out perfectly and they are ready to be hidden for my daughter's first Easter egg hunt.
The daffodils are blooming and complement the colorful easter eggs.
The dying process was quite complex. This is something my wife found online. You crunch a bunch of onion skins up and mix them with dill and mint.
Then you pack the egg and the onion skins into a nylon socking.
Once they are all bundled up you can then dip them in strange natural color concoctions.
This yellow is of course tumeric.
This green is from an algae powder we add to our drinks.
This red is a combo of hibiscus tea and beets.
Here is what the algae one looks like when first removing them from the nylon stocking.
All the rest turned out interesting too. I thought the beets would be brighter but they ended up kind of orange and dull.
Now my daughter is getting the hang of finding them.
She really threw them back into the basket and most of them cracked lol. Time to make some deviled eggs now.
That's all for now, happy Easter!
