Here is a decent chanterelle haul for this #fungifriday by 
Chanterelles are quite easy to identify by their color and gill pattern. The gills are more like veins qhich is unique to chants.
They tend to grow under hardwood trees during warmer rains in the summer.
They can be difficult to spot at first because they grow under lots of jewel weeds and other forest undergrowth.
My daughter is getting good at spotting them while playing with sticks.
Now its time to clean them. My daughter really loved carrying the bag and kept saying mushrooms mushrooms.
I first rinse all the dark soil off of them. It takes a few rinses to get it out of the strange gills.
Next I soak them in salt water for a few minutes to loosen any other dirt and slightly add a salty flavor to them.
Finally once they are soaked they need to dry a few hours on a wash cloth. Now they are ready for cooking. This batch we cooked with onions and put them as a topping on butternut squash soup. They paired quite well.
