Here's a #featheredfriday post about hoping for spring during a midwest gloomy snow storm.
In about three months or so I'll start seeing the robins around here again. Right now I'm sure they are having fun in the southern states.
I think the doves still stick around here during the winter but I don't see them anywhere now.
Hopefully this one made it down to Alabama or somewhere warm so it could poop up someone's windshield.
House sparrows and starlings are still around here flying in the snow. I'm sure they have burrowed into someone's attic to keep warm this winter.
The red-winged blackbirds are just like the robins. They pretty much leave when there is ice on the water and probably end up in Florida somewhere.
Soon they will be back to pooping on the signpost by the lake again. There are vicious territorial fights over this pooping fence post between the male red-wings.
The babies should be emering around May or so. That's when the red-wings really dive bomb attack you by the lake.
The Canadian geese are here all winter and will pop down in the snow and scavenge for grass underneath all the snow. Gosling should be appearing early by April.
Baby red-eared sliders should show up by April as well. Right now all of them are buried deep in the mud in a hiberative state. Strange fact, they somehow breathe through their butts when hibernating...
