Here are some sightings by the water for this #featheredfriday by 
The welcoming committee at the lake are the red-winged blackbirds. They are in full nesting mode defending their territory. This one is flaring his shoulder pads at me to try and scare me away.
I walked by a lady at the lake and she said one pecked her in the head and actually drew blood lol. These guys can be vicious. So far I haven't been pecked just dive bombed and squawked at.
Here is one of the females. They are a bit less aggressive until their babies actually hatch. For now they are probably looking for the most aggressive male to defend their nesting territory.
I noticed a great egret hunting near the edge of the lake. The red-winged blackbirds will often attack these guys too as I'm sure they would love to gobble up a baby red-wing if they could. They mostly eat fish though.
One of the red-wings actually succeeded in scaring it away and I was able to catch a fleeing flying shot.
I noticed an abandoned Canadian goose nest on one of the floating islands. Perhaps the hawks scared the mother away or it could have been abandoned because other geese were fighting over this nest space.
This mallard wasted no time in claiming a nest spot on the island. The babies should be hatching any time now.
I heard a squeek toy noise high up in the tree and was able to catch this red bellied woodpecker. I'll have to keep an eye out for its nest hole.
I've also consistently seen a pair of pie billed grebes by the lake.
Here the pair seems interested in the turtle. Maybe they are all competing over some fish underwater.
I'm still hoping to catch one of these guys pop up out of the water with a fish in its mouth. Perhaps I'll even get to see them carrying some babies on their backs if they are nesting here. So far their nest seems well hidden somewhere in the reeds.
