It's been forever since I posted for #featheredfriday by @melinda010100
I haven't been out walking looking for birds in a while since we've had the baby. Finally its getting warm enough to take her in the stroller and I was able to snag some photos of sparrows around the lake.
I even saw a blue jay but as usual it wasn't cooperating with me. It would always dive deeper into the tree right before I snapped the shot. Perhaps I can only get good photos of these guys if there is a feeder around.
So I had to go back to the sparrows. All the bushes were full of them as they clump together to keep warm and safe in numbers as there is a hawk that's been hanging around.
The wild roses are prime real estate for the flocks of sparrows to hang around in. They also love to nibble on the rose hips.
I snapped this shot right as it was about to leap off the branch. If I had waited just a fraction of a second I could have gotten it mid-flight.
The male sparrows are usually the proud ones that are less fearful of me and my camera. The rest of the flock stays huddled deep in the rosebushes.
I was able to get really close to this guy. I now just realize they have a winter coat that looks different than their summer coat where they have a thick black beard.
Now it looked to the right. Now that the weather is a bit warmer and I can take the baby out I should be able to get more bird photos, at least the sparrows will be out every day.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
