As I kid, I remember watching Saturday morning cartoons before heading out for the day to explore life outside and all the wonders that would await my arrival. One of the memorable characters from the layover to adventure was Popeye and his obsession with spinach. The subliminal messaging, which wasn't that subtle, was, if you eat your spinach, you can be strong and nothing will be able to stop you or hold you down.
Well, years later and it would appear there is more to the story. Doctors are currently working on turning spinach leaves into human heart tissue. I know, right? It is actually a fairly simple concept which is not that complex in it's application.

This coming along side some very scary statistics according to the American Heart Association, which published the following data:
"Approximately every 40 seconds, an American will have a heart attack.
The estimated annual incidence of heart attack in the US is 580,000 new attacks and 210,000 recurrent attacks. Average age at the first heart attack is 65.3 years for males and 71.8 years for females.
Cardiovascular disease, listed as the underlying cause of death, accounts for nearly 801,000 deaths in the US. That’s about 1 of every 3 deaths in the US.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading global cause of death, accounting for more than 17.3 million deaths per year in 2013, a number that is expected to grow to more than 23.6 million by 2030.
In 2013, cardiovascular deaths represented 31 percent of all global deaths."
