Students' Union Government hass three arms just like a nation has it; the executive arm, the legislative arm and the judicial arm.
Each arm of government has its own unique function which must not be carried out by another arm, this is in accordance with the rule of separation of powers.
The legislative arm of government is bestowed with the power to make law. They are the law maker. They design how they want the constitution to look like, and often times make it suit them. They pass laws/bills in the parliament. They also ratify annual budget of office holders from the three arms. Impeachment of a member of the executive or judicial member can be done by the parliamentarians. Also, amendment of constitution is a key function which must not be neglected.
Implementation of law and its enforcement is a huge function carried out by the executive arm of government. The chief executive appoints the judges and ministers that will work with him for the smooth running of the government. Welfarism in terms of security, economy, health and so on are works carried out by the executive.
The judicial arm of government handles the interpretation of law. Most of their duties is done in the court where verdicts are given by the judge. In a situation where any citizen fails to comply with a laid down rule and apprehended, he will be taken to court and judged accordingly.
