Nuevamente les deseo un buen día, y una semana llena de música a todos los miembros y amigos de la comunidad Music. Como cada semana, hoy martes he vuelto con mi participación para la iniciativa que semanalmente nos ofrece el amigo @ablaze, el Three Tune Tuesday, esta vez en su edición, número 69.

Like every week, today, Tuesday, I have returned with my participation for the initiative that my friend @ablaze offers us weekly, the Three Tune Tuesday, this time in its edition, number 69.
Para hoy no he traído un LP, sino un casette; sí, uno de esos objetos prehistóricos, jajajaja, que también servían para grabar y oír música. De hecho, eran muy populares, porque su precio de venta era inferior al de los acetatos, y también porque se podían oír incluso dentro de los automóviles, (siempre y cuando éste contase con un reproductor de casettes). Y de mi colección de casettes les he traído a Bruce Springsteen (The Boss), un legendario cantante estadounidense, quien fue muy popular en las décadas de los 80 y 90.
For today I have not brought an LP, but a cassette; yes, one of those prehistoric objects, hahahaha, that were also used to record and listen to music. In fact, they were very popular, because their sale price was lower than that of acetates, and also because they could be heard even inside cars (as long as they had a cassette player). And from my cassette collection I have brought you Bruce Springsteen (The Boss), a legendary American singer, who was very popular in the 80's and 90's.
Bruce Springsteen es uno de los mejores cantantes y compositores de rock en Estados Unidos y a nivel mundial, aunque ha incursionado en otros géneros como el folk y la balada. Este casette que quiero compartir con todos hoy, corresponde a su octava producción, la cual salió en el año 1987, TÚNEL DEL AMOR, en donde oímos a un Springsteen más pausado y reflexivo, quizás producto del fracaso de su primer matrimonio. Bruce Springsteen is one of the best rock singers and songwriters in the United States and worldwide, although he has ventured into other genres such as folk and ballads. This cassette that I want to share with everyone today corresponds to his eighth production, which came out in 1987, TUNNEL OF LOVE, where we hear a more leisurely and thoughtful Springsteen, perhaps a product of the failure of his first marriage. Este casette no lo compré en 1987, sino a principios de 1988, en mi discotienda habitual; y resultó siendo sorpresa, porque el giro de The Boss en su música es notable, especialmente si comparas estas canciones con las que formaron parte de su producción anterior, Born in the U.S.A., de la cual dista mucho en estilo y energía. Este casette tuvo un costo de 110,00 bolívares, que en el año 1988, equivaldrían a 4,80 dólares americanos de ese momento.
I didn't buy this cassette in 1987, but at the beginning of 1988, in my usual record store; and it turned out to be a surprise, because The Boss's turn in their music is remarkable, especially if you compare these songs with those that were part of their previous production, Born in the U.S.A., from which it is far from style and energy. This cassette had a cost of 110.00 bolivars, which in 1988 would be equivalent to 4.8 US dollars at that time.
Cuando hice esta compra, recuerdo que me obsequiaron un volante de SONOTEK, una marca de casettes vírgenes, vacíos o en blanco, los cuales se usaban para grabar canciones o voces en ellos; sin embargo, el de Springsteen no es de esta marca, sino que fue editado por la compañía disquera CBS, en mi país, Venezuela, para ser comercializado en las tiendas Recordland y sus afiliadas, como puedes ver en las siguientes fotografías. Tal como pueden notar, también el casette está rotulado y es en color negro, lo cual es propio de muchos casettes originales, ya que los que se vendían en blanco para posteriores grabaciones, por lo general eran transparentes, (bueno, no siempre). También tiene su correspondiente estuche y su “carátula” en papel glasé impresa con los datos de la producción, esto en Español, debido a que fue elaborado en Venezuela para su comercialización en el país.
When I made this purchase, I remember that they gave me a flyer from SONOTEK, a brand of virgin, empty or blank cassettes, which were used to record songs or voices on them; however, Springsteen's is not of this brand, but was edited by the record company CBS, in my country, Venezuela, to be marketed in Recordland stores and their affiliates, as you can see in the following photographs. As you may notice, the cassette is also labeled in black, which is typical of many original cassettes, since the ones that were sold in white for later recordings were usually transparent (well, not always). It also has its corresponding case and its "cover" in glazed paper printed with the data of the production, this in Spanish, because it was made in Venezuela for its commercialization in the country.
Ahora vamos con mis canciones / Now let's go with my songs
La primera canción que me gustaría compartir con todos, es la segunda del lado A, “Más duro que el resto”, una hermosa melodía, una balada, la cual dejo aquí acompañada de un bonito video, el cual se desarrolla en una presentación en vivo de The Boss y su banda. El inicio es una de las cosas que más me gustan, y es que esa batería suena demasiado bien, y la voz de Springsteen es un poema, y por supuesto, al final interpreta la armónica de forma genial. Esta canción me hizo recordar en su momento (y aún hoy), los punkis y rockeros que estudiaban conmigo en la Secundaria y que aparentaban ser súper rudos, súper duros, y muchos de ellos sólo tenían un buen corazón con ansias de ternura y amor. Veamos este trozo de la canción:

The first song I'd like to share with everyone, is the second song on side A, "Tougher Than the Rest ", a beautiful melody, a ballad, which I leave here accompanied by a nice video, which takes place in a live performance of The Boss and his band. The beginning is one of the things I like the most, and that drums sound too good, and Springsteen's voice is a poem, and of course, at the end he plays the harmonica in a great way. This song made me remember at the time (and still today), the punks and rockers who studied with me in High School and who appeared to be super tough, super tough, and many of them just had a good heart with a longing for tenderness and love. La siguiente canción que traje, es la número 3 del lado B del casette, y se llama “Disfraz brillante”, y es una canción con más tono rock. Me gustó en ese entonces la melodía, un armonía muy buena, (como casi todas las canciones de Springsteen), pero también me enganchó su letra, ya que la misma va de esos momentos mágicos, pero también de gran incertidumbre, que experimentamos cuando conocemos un nuevo amor, cuando conectamos con alguien que nos gusta, pues surgen preguntas existenciales muy profundas, que nos llevan a cuestionarnos si lo que estamos viendo es cierto o es simplemente un bello y brillante disfraz. Precisamente en ese entonces estaba yo en una situación de esas, y analizaba si me convenía o no la nueva relación amorosa. Pero vamos a ver un poco de esta letra, y también les dejo el video oficial, que es bastante bueno.

The next song I brought, is number 3 on the B-side of the cassette, and it's called "Bright Disguise", and it's a song with more of a rock tone. I liked at that time the melody, a very good harmony, (like almost all Springsteen's songs), but I was also hooked by his lyrics, since the same goes about those magical moments, but also of great uncertainty, that we experience when we meet a new love, when we connect with someone we like, because very deep existential questions arise, that lead us to question whether what we are seeing is true or is simply a beautiful and brilliant disguise. Precisely at that time I was in such a situation, and I was analyzing whether or not the new love relationship was right for me. But let's take a look at some of these lyrics, and I'll also leave you with the official video, which is pretty good.

Para finalizar el trío de recomendaciones en este Martes musical, he traído la canción “Valentine’s Day”, una bella balada con dejos de folk, que Springsteen canta con mucho sentimiento. De esta melodía, más que la música, que es bonita, me gustó la letra, por su profundidad, y es que ocurre, (como dije en mi post anterior), que me gustan las canciones que me hacen pensar, y esta me hizo pensar, por su contenido. Cabe señalar, que para aquel entonces no había Internet, pero sí existían revistas especializadas en música, y por allí era que los jóvenes de aquel entonces, conseguíamos las letras e información de los discos. Si encontrábamos las letras en Inglés, lo que hacíamos era traducir palabra por palabra para poder entender lo que oíamos, (eso me ayudó mucho en mis clases de Inglés en la Secundaria). Vean esta preciosa letra, para que comprendan lo que les dije respecto a esta canción:

To finish the trio of recommendations in this musical Tuesday, I have brought the song "Valentine's Day", a beautiful ballad with hints of folk, which Springsteen sings with much feeling. Of this melody, more than the music, which is beautiful, I liked the lyrics, for its depth, and it happens, (as I said in my previous post), that I like songs that make me think, and this one made me think, for its content. It should be noted that at that time there was no Internet, but there were magazines specialized in music, and it was there that the young people of that time, we got the lyrics and information of the records. If we found the lyrics in English, what we did was to translate word for word in order to understand what we heard, (that helped me a lot in my English classes in High School).
