I miss going to the pub, as there aren't many good ones in my city, I can count them with half a hand. The other week I went to Taipei and took the opportunity to go a pub for a drink and some proper pub grub.

I did a search on Google, and On Tap came up with some very reveiws. It was tucked down a lane within an area that was popular with lots of restaurants. It was not long after Christmas and the decorations were still up, including a little tree.

The pub was fairly busy when we got there, and all the small tables were occupied.

There was a bank of bar seats surroundiing the staircase, which led down to a pool table. We sat there as there was a big screen in the front. They had football on, perfect. Brighton were playing Chelsea, neither are one of my must watch games but footie, beer and pubs all go together.

It was Wednesday and they were doing Taco promotions. Seemed like a no brainer for my friend. The other promotion they had going was buy 2 get 1 free beer. There were three choices available. Another no brainer. We got the Vedett.

I was dying for some British pub grub and ordered a steak pie and chips. Haven't had that for ages. The reviews said the food here was quite good, we had high expectations of the food.

The tacos came first. They looked good and had ample filling inside. My friend ordered three different ones, beef, chicken and pork one each. He said the filling had a good kick of spice and was very tasty. The only downside, it was a bit soggy and the sauce was leaking through the taco warp making in very messy.

My steak pie and chips came next. It look good! That's a good sign

I cut into the pie to check it out. It seemed like a freshly made pie and not a re-heated frozen one. The pastry was very good, not too thick but didn't crumble either. The steak filling was very tender and together with the carrots inside, is the best pie I've had for a long time. Actually, I don't know if it's because I haven't had a steak pie for a long time, or if it is a good pie. I'm gonna go with the latter.

On Tap is a great place for a drink, but when you get good food, it makes it double worthwhile for a visit.
