I'm new to dCity, so I don't know anything about the game per say, but I can tell you why I wish I had invested at launch, aside from the obvious daily hive payout.

I'm not sure if it fully succeeds... time will tell..., but it seems like a great attempt to gamify smart financial management. Savings, compounding interest, economics, all scores measured in evolving stats that encourage the player to seek multipliers, that equal a true value payout.

I also think the novelty of it will sustain it and draw new players as long as updates keep coming, and as long as that happens it always has a chance of exploding and becoming huge. I think we're not far from seeing virtual economies and governments, similar to this one, tested in creative and exciting ways, with very interesting outcomes so having the early mover advantage in the space will always be an edge as long as it's kept sharp.
