I Just did my first Power Up on the HIVE blockchain and I wanted to document it. About a couple years back when I did my first power up on the STEEM blockchain, I didn't think of documenting it and to this day I often wonder how I ended up doing the first power-up. After that I had done a few more power-ups but I still wanna recall how did the events lead up to my first power-up on STEEM.
To many it may not matter or be irrelevant, but for some reason, these sort of tiny things hold a dear place in my heart. I strongly believe these sort of teenie-tiny events define our journey, shape the path forward and it's nice to sometimes to look back into the memories (not just power-ups and downs, just everything in life in general)!
Getting to the point!
So, pre-hardfork of the STEEM blockchain, like many others, I initiated a power down of 500 SP which was supposed to give me around 38 liquid steem in about a week. As a snapshot was taken, this powerdown was to be carried over to the new HIVE blockchain as well. So a couple of days back I receive the steem power down (no one cares at this point anymore) and my HIVE Power-Down as well.
But I don't wanna go into a full powerdown on HIVE as this is going to be the chain I'll stick to. So I cancelled the power-down on hive.
Also, pre-fork, for my last few posts I added @likwid as a beneficiary to my posts as I didn't want more steem getting stuck as steem power as I'm not gonna be around much on that blockchain. Amazing thing about the snapshot is, while I did get my payouts in liquid STEEM, I also got the full amount as liquid HIVE!! Yay!!
After the fork @likwid probably had to figure out the whole blockchain shift and so the payouts of the pre-fork posts were pending, until today!
All of a sudden all the pending likwid rewards came in today and it was kind of a jump in balance for. Maybe a very small amount for a lot of you guys out there, but a decent jump for me. I got about 30 liquid HIVE and about 7 HBD. Also my HBD conversion request filled in today and I ended up receiving 34 more!
I had 1259.937 HP before powering up.
I haven't converted the HBDs to HIVE yet. I put in a stingy buy order on the market, let's see what happens with that lol! Otherwise I'm going to use the HBD conversion feature on PEAKD.
I had 544 liquid steem in wallet. I like to see round numbers. So I decided I'll keep 500 in my account as liquid HIVE and and I powered up the rest, 44.2 HIVE.
And now I'm at 1304.137 HP! Cool!
Why I'm keeping some liquid?
I was tempted to go on a full power up. But decided against it and the answer is simple. With the corona situation, and working as a volunteer doctor, I don't really know when I'll find myself in a crisis and might need to cash out some liquid HIVE (oh I will be cashing out my steem before that as a backup, but we just don't know how bad things are gonna get).
Growing on HIVE
Life has been hectic to say the least the past week. But I will be trying to post more regularly on the chain, interact with people more often. I don't want life getting in the way of me growing as an author on the blockchain, as it did back in 2018.
Alright then! That will be all for this post! My first Power-Up on HIVE has been documented and will stay on the blockchain, forever!
Until next Time!
Peace!
