In 1666 the City of London was all but destroyed in the Great Fire of London.
A monument to the fire was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and built at the junction of Monument Street and Fish Street Hill in the City of London.
It was built between 1671 and 1677 to commemorate the fire and to celebrate the rebuilding of the City.
The City of London is also known as the ‘Square Mile’.
In order to stimulate economic recovery in the UK I want to build a second monument to the City –
Make a 1:1 scale copy of the City, using the historical boundaries of the Square Mile.
Build this monument wherever it’s most needed.
