This is my entry for the The 1111 Writing Contest - What magic can you create with only 1111 characters?! - Week 2 - 'Heaven' [TOP PRIZE 3 SBD + Runner up Prizes!! Winners from Week 1 Announced!], hosted by @hartfloe.
The splendor of Heaven cannot be explained
No one has seen it, but I know just the same
That all of my treasures are stored up and safe
And the dearly departed will greet me at the gate
There will be time for laughing and time to dine
We will have all of eternity to live refined
With crowns on our heads, and jewels round our necks
We’ll rule over the kingdom with love and respect
No more sickness or sadness, no fear or regret
Just lots of others who we haven’t met yet
We’ll hang out with Einstein and eat the finest cuisine.
And go golfing with Plato to debate philosophy
We’ll never have to rush, and we’ll always be on time
We’ll always have to enough to eat, and never have to wait in line.
And those are just the good things, and stories that I’ve heard
There’s really no telling what the Good Lord has got in store
Heaven could be at Grandma’s reading her favorite book
All curled up by the fire in a little cottage nook
It could be me sleeping for two or three years
Waking to find all my pain has disappeared
It may be us living together at peace
Finally seeing the love in the grief
If I arrive late- save me a plate!
