Hello Paint Time Friends!!!
Today I bring you a quick post with my latest creation.

Recently she used a photo in her post, and although I'm pretty sure I have seen it before... it took my eye as an artist. I wondered if I could paint some form of this picture on canvas.
Since I am going through a stencil phase, I thought, I'll trace the image and then transfer it to the canvas to paint.
I really did a good job tracing the picture onto the white paper, but I lost a little bit of her beauty when I tried to transfer the drawing onto the canvas.
I accepted the fact that the painting was going to be a bit different than the picture and my drawing, so I soldiered on and began to add color; hoping I could make it look better with the paint.
I had been watching videos on shading, so I picked three light colors, and 3 dark colors to begin. I used apricot, Naples yellow and sky blue for the face.
Once I began, I decided this painting would best be done as an abstract painting, and I then did my best to make shapes on the face in colors to make the eye stand out once I started with the darker paints.
Once I got the color shapes on the face the way I liked, I repeated the layers of paint to achieve the darkness I wanted.
I took raw sienna, and grey as my darker colors and used them to make the outlines I wanted before I started filling in with color.
I had the hardest time making the ear look right. I changed the color and the position many times. Even after I finished the painting, I went back in and made her ear blue.
In the end, I ended up covering the ear all together!
All in all, I think for my first attempt at painting a human subject, I didn't do too bad.
