As I receive orders and people request custom paintings and drawings, my artistic style truly shines, and I get the opportunity to experiment further, just as happened with this particular painting, for which my cousin provided a small round canvas along with a stand to prop it up.
Before applying paint to the canvas, an artist should remember a key preparatory step: slightly dampening the surface. This allows the paint to spread and settle effectively, ensuring a better visual impact. Subsequently, applying a base color enhances the coating and brings out the richness of the paint layers.
Generally, I accept payment for any order I undertake, as an artist needs more than just appreciation, especially in today's world, financial resources are essential to cover the cost of materials and make a living. However, when it comes to relatives and friends, I often set aside the financial aspect and prioritize the personal connection. For instance, when a cousin, who is very dear to me, gave me this canvas, we sat down together and first decided exactly which painting we would create.
My cousin and I agreed that I would paint a nice canvas featuring sunflowers and a setting sun for her; she was delighted and very excited to see the final result. I was quite excited myself, as it was a small canvas, and I was eager to see how the detailing would turn out.
After applying the base coat, I first tried using a dark blue color for the sky; then, I mixed in a little white to lighten the shade, aiming to achieve a look closer to a true sky-blue color.
This design generally comprised three colors: sky blue; the colors of the sun's rays specifically orange and yellow; and an earthy tone, which was a shade of green.
The color had spread to my hands along the way, leaving behind such a lovely shade; seeing that color on one's hands makes a person feel wonderful.
I used masking tape here so that the colors don't merge and mix into each other.
In the beginning, the most difficult part of painting for me was perhaps painting trees specifically those bushy types even though it isn't actually all that hard. However, I find the technique quite easy now and handle it very well.
Now it is time to apply masking tape to the lower section and paint it black, as we need to create a field where the sunflower blossoms will stand out prominently.
So, our sunflowers are ready now; however, if you look closely, you will notice that the sun is still white and needs to be colored yellow. This process was quite lengthy,far more involved than what the pictures might suggest,because only the creator truly knows the time and effort required to make them.
So, we can now say that the painting is fully complete. After that, I added a layer of varnish to give it a bit of shine, and then I gave it to my cousin as a gift.
