Hello, dear friends,
Naturally, as a lover of small towns, I couldn't resist visiting a village during the few days I spent in Trentino Alto Adige. This village is close to the two places I shared in previous posts, and at the end of this brief post, I'll share my impressions of visiting this place.
The village is Cles, which is also in the famous Val di Non, a valley known for its apple production. I visited this place fairly quickly, and unfortunately, it didn't impress me much. I'm sorry, but like Tuscan villages, that particular architecture is truly unique.
And imagine, this village with about 7,200 inhabitants has origins dating back to Roman times, so it has very ancient roots. Back then, it was an important religious commercial center. The first thing that strikes you when you arrive in this town is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, the main church of Cles, which dates back to medieval times.
However, the town center doesn't offer many other interesting attractions; it has now become a classic village with several shops catering to tourists who visit the area. Unfortunately, what I've always noticed about these places in Trentino is that, despite their rich history, many architectural buildings from the medieval period have been destroyed, possibly because some of these territories were later governed by barbarian peoples.
Nevertheless, I can definitely say that the town is well-maintained from a tourism perspective and is still very lively compared to other villages I've visited in Tuscany. I also like how these places are always decorated with wooden elements, as this material is very important in this part of Trentino. Additionally, we must remember that towns like Cles are surrounded by forests, and most visitors come here to hike or enjoy beautiful mountain bike rides.
I didn’t take many photos of this place, but I hope this encourages your curiosity to visit such a spot. There were many things to see, but unfortunately, I had only a few days available, so it will definitely be on my list for the next time I visit these places.
