Hi friends, I hope you are doing very well and all life is going well.

Dear friends, in today's post I want to tell you about a tradition that takes place every year in Tuscany, there are several similar traditions in Italy but each one has something in common, I will try to tell this and make you understand how it works.

Meanwhile let's start with the fact that we are in Castell'ottieri, a small fraction of the municipality of Sorano in the province of Grosseto, a small town located about 500 meters above sea level, it is a small village rich in history, it is the most important example of its history and its marvelous medieval fortress which is practically the symbol of the town.
This is one of the numerous villages of the Tuscan Maremma, and its castle was built in tuff like other castles nearby.
Among other things, thanks to this story, a great historical re-enactment is organized in this place on the last Sunday of August with the traditional medieval banquet.

But today in this post I want to tell you about another event that takes place on June 3rd and 4th of every year in which I was lucky enough to participate, since I came to visit a friend of mine who lives right near here.

I happened upon it during the preparation for the celebrations of Maria Santissima which take place on June 4th or on the Sunday after the 3rd, and therefore I was able to see with my own eyes how the locals but also the inhabitants of neighboring countries come here to carry on this tradition.
Practically in the morning before the Maria Santissima parade, these people begin to decorate the streets of the town with thousands of flowers.

The thing that struck me the most was how they were organized and how in a short time they managed to decorate all the streets of the town.
Everyone managed to give their contribution, even though I wasn't an inhabitant of the town, I gave my small artistic contribution as a sign of respect for this tradition.

I tell you the truth it had already happened to me once again to witness a similar tradition that takes place in Sicily, and I thought wrongly that these traditions were linked only to Southern Italy, instead from what I understand they take place where people are devoted to their saints.

From my point of view I think it's something really very beautiful, and I sincerely hope that future generations are able to preserve this tradition over time.
I truly consider myself very lucky to have found myself at the right moment and to have managed to photograph all this work.

At the end I also witnessed the procession with the Madonna who were carried on a palanquin, something really exciting.

I hope you read my story with interest and I hope you enjoyed this, See you in the next post but first I wish you a wonderful day!
