I ordered the Gorditas de Chicharr贸n, a Camar贸n taco, and a soda.
It was actually my first time seeing a gordita in person, so I was curious about what it would look like. Naturally, I asked the waiter for a quick rundown.
They had the usual self鈥憇erve sides, so I grabbed some green salsa, pico de gallo, lemon, and a few tortilla chips.
A gordita is a traditional Mexican dish made from a thick, fried or baked corn masa cake that is split open and stuffed with various savory fillings like shredded meat, cheese, beans, or chicharr贸n (pork rind stew). The name means "little fat one" in Spanish, referring to its plump shape, and it's a popular street food known for its hearty, comforting texture and versatility, with sweet versions also existing in some regions. The chicharr贸n was seriously incredible... so good. The gordita was stuffed with refried beans, chicharr贸n, and shredded lettuce. I devoured the filling with zero hesitation. The masa cake itself wasn鈥檛 really my thing, though鈥攊t was a bit too thick and firm for my taste.
The shrimp taco, on the other hand, was fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned. Warm tortillas, saut茅ed shrimp, spices... I could easily eat three of those.
Even though I didn鈥檛 finish the gordita, I left completely satisfied.
