The official restrike of the first Utrecht “Scheepjes-Schelling” or "Ship Shilling" from 1786 from The Royal Dutch Mint. The name of the Scheepjes-Schelling is derived from its use in trades.
This a legal tender coin per se, but the coin is guaranteed by the Royal Dutch Mint. The mintage is limited to10,000 world wide. The gold version has a limited issue of 25 pieces!
The restrikes from the Royal Dutch Mint includes the Lion Dollar and the Ducaton Rider shown below.
Obverse: Depicts a warship with a flag on the stern. The inscription reads “CONCORDIA RES PARVAE CRESCUNT” which may be translated as Unity makes Strength.
Reverse: Features the province weapon of Utrecht and the inscription “MO:NO:ARG:ORDIN:TRAIECT”: MONETA NOVA ARGENTEA ORDINUM TRAIECTUM. It means New silver coin of Utrecht.
