Afternoon everyone…..

It’s more of a shock than a surprise….. to be quite honest. Many, many, many years ago. Over three decades ago to be accurate. I used to visit local coin shops and go to coin shows which at that time were quite plentiful in my area.

I grew up with three coin shops within biking distance from my house. There were also coin shows just about every weekend fairly close by. Meaning within a fifteen minute drive at most.

Well I became friendly with two people during those days. One I am still very friendly with and we see each other as often as possible. He is the friend that has changed his collecting preference since then and primarily collects graded United States gold coins.

His goal is to have the entire $2.50, $5, $10, and $20 Liberty Head dollar collection. He already has the $2.50, $5, and $10 gold Indian head dollar series completed. And when I tell you they are all extremely beautiful I’m not lying.

His collection is 100% registered with the grading company PCGS. He has won best registry set for them on several different occasions over the years and is always looking to upgrade coins when possible.

Well the other person that I used to frequent these local coin shops and shows with did me dirty on a few occasions and on the last one that happened. I disassociated with him and haven’t spoken to him in over three decades now.

Well….

Today a package was delivered by the postman, that had no return address on it. It was not addressed to me directly, it had To: The ****** Family, with the address. My mom handed it to me, and said this must be for you.

Here is the package…

Inside was a folded up piece of note paper, with a note. The only thing the note said was “I’m sorry” with his name and a phone number. Inside that folded up piece of paper was a silver round.

Once I saw this I text my buddy to call me once he had the chance. Within two minutes he called. I told him what I just opened and what it said. He then told me that he sees him every once in a while at smaller coin shows, he’s a dealer now in Eastern Pennsylvania he told me.

I then asked if he knew anything about this? He said no, but that the last time he saw him, he asked if I was still in contacts with me. That was it.

So, after over three decades I guess this is his apology for fucking me over several times. One was a very costly fuck over!

Now I have a question for anyone reading this. How would you handle this? Would you call him? Or would you just throw out the note with his phone number on it?

I asked my buddy what he would do? Since we both stop contact with him after the last time he fucked me over. He told me it was entirely up to me.
