Walked into a bar

Hello #freewriters friends, I welcome you to my blog.
It was a Friday morning; everyone in the office was exchanging pleasantries. "Thank God it's Friday" (TGIF), but Ade’s mind was calculating where to spend the evening.

Later that evening, Ade walked into a bar around his home. It was a local bar with Afrobeats and Fuji music blending with light-ups from every corner. Ade smiled to himself and said, “This is what my body needs this evening”

He looked around and found everybody with a bowl of peppersoup and some wraps of Ram Suya. He ordered the same but chose to stay at the corner of the bar to feel the Afrobeats.

At the peak of his enjoyment, he glanced through the bar and saw someone he felt he knew; a closer look revealed it was his secondary school lesson teacher. He taught him chemistry and helped him with extra classes when he was preparing for his exams. Ade has not seen him for over 2 decades.

Ade moved closer and had a brief discussion with him. He immediately learnt that the same man who made him successful decades ago is presently struggling financially and couldn’t stop coming to the bar to beg for drinks to keep him going.

Ade gave him his card and asked him to meet him at the office within the week, while he left the bar feeling bad about his teacher's condition. At the office, Ade met with their HR and told her about the man. She responded that he could invite him to work as a casual factory worker. Documentation was done, and the man resumed duties.

Ade's walk into the bar that evening didn’t end with him enjoying himself alone, but with him impacting a life. Would you do so if you were in Ade’s shoes? Let’s hear from you.
