Afternoon everyone ….
One of our fellow community members has posted a couple of bank notes recently. So I thought I’d give you all the best of the best.
I replied to his one post saying that I remembered an auction of a bank note that sold for millions. In doing a little digging I found it. The bank note is an 1890 Grand Watermelon $1,000 Bill, United States of America bank note.
I vaguely remember the interview with the purchaser of the note from shortly after the auction. There are only a handful of these notes in existence still. This is by far the nicest example know.
Here is some info on the bank note:
The famous 1890 Grand Watermelon $1,000 bill is by far the most expensive banknote in the world. It was auctioned at a staggering $3.3 million in 2014. It gets its funny name because the large zeros on the note were designed to look like watermelons. Issued between 1890 and 1893, it is one of the rarest banknotes in American history.
So there you go @trumpman there is you expensive bank note.
