Afternoon everyone….
Trying to work around yesterday’s unfortunate issue. I typically like to stain and finish everything together, but time is still ticking on my deadline and I need to make progress daily.
So today I sanded all the cabinets, wiped them all down and stained them. I waited the two hours for them all to soak in properly, then a sprayed a coat of sanding sealer on all of them.
I’m hoping to get all of them sanded from the raised grain the sealer causes before I call it a day.
Depending on your age, you might not have even heard of Bazooka bubble gum. This was a staple item of my childhood. Not only did I buy them with the Bazooka Joe comics in them. But I was also a very big baseball card collector, every wax pack of Topps baseball cards had a stick of Bazooka gum inside back then.
Topps owned Bazooka Candy Brands. Well up until two years ago when they sold it to Fanatics Inc. Up until 1991 Topps included a stick of gum in every wax pack of baseball cards. So if you aren’t over the age of forty at least, you most likely never knew this information.
Growing up I played all sports, but baseball was played the most. I was very lucky to have three baseball fields right up the road from me. Nearly every day after school we would stop at the newspaper place and buy a handful of the penny Bazooka gums with the comics, then hit the fields.
Most days it was ten of us playing. We made up this game called double or nothing. It’s pretty simple and kinda self explanatory. You can play with as little as four per side, but five is perfect. A pitcher, catcher, infielder and two outfielders.
Basically the hitter has to get a double or better. If not it’s an out. Games move quickly and it’s a good way to practice. But we all chewed hundreds and hundreds of Bazooka gums in our day.
A couple of years back was the 75th anniversary of Bazooka Joe. Pamp Swiss made a limited silver bar commemorating it. If you ask me they did a sweet job.
