Afternoon everyone....

I did a post the other day about the release of the centennial coin releases for 2021. The Morgan Dollar and the Peace Dollar.

That information was from Coinweek.

Last night I read another article with more information for Coinnews.

Here are more details to the release....

It has been confirmed that they will be struck from .999 fine silver as oppose to being 90% like originally done.

There will be strikes from the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mint. Due to amount of proof coins and the changing of the design on the American Silver Eagle this year. The West Point Mint which was originally said to be involved will not be.

They are going to have privy mark coins only for the Carson City and New Orleans Mints. I’m quite bummed about that. I wanted a full coin of each, not a fan of privy marks. That’s the lazy way out.

Not only that, but the privy marked coins will be produced at the Philadelphia Mint.

As for the Peace Dollar. That will also be struck in .999 fine silver. No privy marks and the only mint producing them will be the Philadelphia Mint they said.

Somehow some way they will find a way to screw something up with all these coins being changed.

Here are also true release pictures of the prototype planchets for both coins.

There hasn’t been any information as to the release of any of these coins, or if there is going to be a mintage limit. Also they have not confirmed if there is going to be proof versions as well as originally discussed.
