Not hired, but here's one my roommate had to work with.
Forced to get a job or be evicted from his parents basement. Always showed up late and blamed it on the fact that he didn't have a car and had to bike to work (and thus lied on the job app about having a working vehicle to make it to work in). My roommate tried to offer him rides when the weather was particularly bad, which worked kinda until one day he asked for a ride and my roommate told him to be out front and ready by a certain time. Roomie arrived on time, no sign of the guy. Texted and called him, no sign of him. Not wanting to be late to work my roommate texted him and told him he was on his own and showed up on time, only to get a text five minutes after the start of shift (with the guy living about 10 minutes out, meaning they would have been 15-20 minutes late to work) asking where he was.
Now this guy would also just not show up for work if he woke up late or whatever, meaning he didn't show half the time anyway. Knowing this my roommate showed the time stamped texts to his boss and it was basically concluded that this guy was trying to make them both late to make himself look better and my roommate worse, since my roommate has been dominating this job since he got it because he has the drive to make it work. So my roommate was told to not offer this guy rides anymore, the guy was told when he showed up next that he was no longer allowed to ask for rides from anyone else working there, and if this wasn't a retail-type situation where they have so few workers to begin with they can't keep the place staffed they would have outright fired him.
My understanding is he still gets away with not showing up half the time, and he also shows up sick and doesn't practice proper hygiene so he keeps giving whatever bugs he gets to my roommate and just about everyone else working there too :/
