Islam, one of the biggest religions with around more than 1.8 billion followers present globally is a religion that preaches peace significantly. But presently there is a stigma rooted with Islam and how it preaches terrorism which is an utterly wrong believe.
If a dusky guy sporting a beard is caught shooting, he is a terrorist. But if a Caucasian guy is spotted shooting, he is mentally disturbed and needs guidance. Pure example of white privilege.
How can Islam propagate terrorism when examples of Islam's preacher that is our beloved Holy Prophet (S.A.W) are given universally for his soft spoken speech, kindness and excellent manner of conduct. Hereby, I'd like to give an excerpt from life of Holy Prophet (S.A.W):
Many disbelievers used to oppose the Prophet's (S.A.W) teachings as they blindly wanted to follow the religion of their forefathers. He'd face oppositions frequently. An old lady used to throw garbage on him whenever he'd pass her house on way to mosque. The surprising part? He wouldn't show anger and would quietly pass by. This would be a daily occurrence until one day the old lady didn't throw garbage. Upon inquiring, he was told that she was sick. Holy Prophet (S.A.W) then visited her as Muslims are to visit the ill and offer help if needed by the ill. The old lady greatly moved by his gesture, accepted Islam at once. Such was the excellent conduct of Holy Prophet (S.A.W). How can then, Muslims be labelled as terrorists?
The label of terrorists was bestowed upon Muslims after the incident of 9/11. At first Americans recruited Muslims to fight off the Russians in Afghanistan in the Soviet War that spanned from 1979-1989. And at that time these fighters were glorified by the Americans, Osama bin Laden was hailed as a hero by Americans, just because it aided America's goal. But come 9/11 and behold, every Muslim was a terrorist.
Everybody voices the slogan "Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims" But nobody talks about how many innocent civilians the CIA arrested in the name of "finding terrorists". Nobody talks about how they were tortured, water boarded and isolated. Nobody talks about the hate crimes being committed against Muslims so often. A girl was pushed off a subway. Another girl, a teenager returning with her friends from nightly prayer last Ramdhan (Muslim month of fasting) was killed. Her crime? She was Muslim. Nobody talks about how terrorists who are not Muslims are hidden from the media and their news, quietly swept under the carpet. Nobody talks about how the hijab (full body covering cloth) is banned in France. So everyone is at liberty to wear what they want and channel their personality? Oh, except Muslims, they can't cover up in France because it leads to terrorism?
Isn't this a violation of human rights now? If nuns cover up, they're devoted, they're religious, they're enlightened. But if a Muslim female is covered up she is oppressed and a threat because what she is wearing triggers terrorism? Sickening. The movie Khuda Ke Liye greatly opens ones eyes regarding the harsh realities of 9/11 and how brutally the Muslims were mistreated just because of their religion. It's 2018, even the Black race is no longer mistreated because of their color, then why are Muslims mistreated and lately even killed just because of their religion?
You'll see Donald Trump blaming Muslims for the root cause of terrorism and demanding walls. And many others asking for the same. But the incidents I mentioned prior will be forgotten in a day or two. Some world of double standards we live in. Over the years, if one sees clearly, Islam became tangled somewhere in between political chaos and was used as an excuse against the people who the powers wanted eliminated. When really politics and religion are two separate things. Islam was, is and will be a religion of peace.
