No one thinks the US started it, except for college students in the US.

The U.S. Department of Education has begun instituting a curriculum that teaches that the United States was founded on slavery. Which of course is ignoring the entirety of history. Every single country had slavery and it wasn't illegal anywhere until England made it illegal. Then the United States killed more of its own citizens than any other war it participated in to end slavery. But it's literally being taught to our students that it was something invented by whites to keep blacks down. Even though 1) there are more slaves in the world today than there were at the peak of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, and 2) there were more whites enslaved by Barbary Coast Pirates than there were African slaves ever brought into the U.S.
