In a way, it's good and comforting. But then, the characters never grow over time. When I was still reading comics for a while, Spider-Man had gone through a bunch of changes. He mutated so his webs were organic, he was married to Mary Jane, he was a schoolteacher, and then his identity became public. Then he made a deal with a literal devil to make his identity secret again, and in one day: he was no longer married, he got his web-shooters back, and Mary Jane forgot who he was along with the rest of the world. Sigh.
