You been looking out for the orignal gameboy? Man those are hard to find! i been lucky to find gameboy colors both in stores or flea markets. Last i saw an original gameboy was probably at the gaming convention in Raleigh NC 2 years ago. There are at least 3 stores i go to locally that are always reliable on having good retros in stock including actual hardware like original controllers and TV plugins.
I do find it funny you sorta mentioned emulating hardware. Playing N64 games is hard since it's the dam Z button that is not naturally on universal controllers and you sorta need a controller with 6 buttons instead of the 4. A gamecube sorta works on a universal controller but what if you really need the two joystick parts as well as the dpad for certain games. It's really hard to map that! yeh they have USB versions of these controllers that were built for emulators but it's still not the same! Like right now i have troubles playing sega games on my retro-pi since i don't have a controller with a proper layout. I did however remap it so my bumbers are the C and Z buttons but it's weird using those on certain games that rely on them for fast action.
