All the three convicts in the Kopardi (Karjat) case were sentenced to death by District sessions judge Suvarna Kewale on 29th November at 11 pm. This heinous crime was reported on 13th July 2016 where a minor girl was raped and murdered by Jitendra Shinde, Santosh Bhawal, and Nitin Bhaluma in Kopardi, Maharashtra. This incident aroused immense anger among people and to protest the crime and for justice, to the victim, many silent protest marches were organized in which lakhs of people participated. This case is also compared with the Nirbhaya case where a girl was raped and murdered in a running bus in Delhi. Death sentence for such crimes would prevent any such incidences in the future. The case result is welcomed by all people in Maharashtra.
