There are many serious sex crimes in every country and they have different kinds of punishment for those crimes. Those sex crimes are often against children and minors. So, I personally think that those criminals should never be allowed to have close contact with children even if it's their own children. I really don't think that they can ever change, even if they served their prison sentence, I still believe that the safety of children should always come first.
Children are very innocent they always depend on the adults to protect them. If an adult commits a sexual crime against them then it breaks their trust and cause long lasting trauma. After growing up these victims suffer from emotional pain and fear for many years. Because these crimes are so serious, that is why society needs to be more careful before giving offenders access to children again.
Some people might go against me now and say that if an offender has completed their punishment and improved their behavior then they deserve a second chance. Well, I already know that people learn from their mistakes, but I do not think we should take risks when children's safety is involved. There are many possibilities that another child might be harmed again. I don't think criminal needs our support more than a victim. The more importance should be given to the victim. The criminals should not get any opportunities to rebuild relationships with children. This opinion also applies to their own children.
In addition, allowing sex offenders to be close to children is not a good decision. If some one does allow a offender to be near their children then they may constantly worry about the children's safety. Children themselves may not fully understand the risks and may be unable to protect themselves. Sometimes they don't understand if they're being touched in a wrong way. Recently in Bangladesh every now day we hear news that a children are facing sexual assault. One of the most talked case was Ramisa, she was an eight year old child.
After sexual assault the criminal feared the child might tell someone so he murdered her and his wife helped him. The man (Sohel Rana) who committed sexual crime and murder, he was already a father. It was hard to accept for people that someone who is already a parent could commit such a heinous. In the end the couple was convicted and sentenced to death. As a student, I believe that children deserve to grow up in environments where they feel safe and protected. I am not saying that these criminals should not have access to support or counseling, it's necessary for them so that's acceptable. Yet some things can never be forgiven.
I think if someone committed serious sexual crime then they deserve death sentence. They are not a parent figure for that reason they are also harmful for their own children. There's no surety that they won't do the same to their own children. So, they should not be in close contact with any children.
