NaJoPoMo Day 5: Remembering Why I Bought This One Journal

When @honeyed asked me to "hang out" with my journals I grabbed two of them and put them on my desk next to my keyboard. As can be seen in the second picture from this post done a couple of days ago.

Yesterday evening I finally decided to crack one of them open and was surprised to discover I had actually written in it. Well one page total. I read the words scrawled in red ink and then remembered why I had bought the journal to begin with AND why I had used red ink.

A few years back I had fallen in love with the idea of writing with a glass pen and ink. I had bought my sister a glass pen and ink set and then bought one myself. You'll notice in the upper left corner there is an entire box of colored inks (unopened) which I bought for this purpose.

What you see written here was as far as I got. When I thought back to why I didn't pursue this further since I clearly had spent time and invested into the material I would need to pursue journal writing. Then it came to me, I do not have the room to leave these items out. Plus because of all the glass I was afraid I would break it and wind up with glass and various colored inks shattered on the floor. So instead I packed it away where it could stay safe. Which it has. Although I am a bit sad that they have sat unused all these years.

I still do not have room for them to have a dedicated space. Which as lovely as they are, I think they should be proudly displayed and used. So, until I reconfigure my studio, these will stay tucked away (and safe) as will this journal. I'm going to save them for future me who will have the time and space to enjoy these beauties.
